There will be a giant spider on the set of Celina High School's musical: "Shrek the Musical" this year, courtesy of Tri Star's construction teacher Warren Gregor and his junior construction students. The "spider", as it has been dubbed by the construction students, won't be seen but it will be working hard. The "spider" is the base of a clever moveable unit built to hold a variety of scenes for the show. Made of wood, this "spider" is a center disk holding 10 and 12 foot long spokes that radiate outward with wheels attached on the underside so that it can move easily. For the musical, it will be covered by a 20 foot by 20 foot square platform on which partitions will be placed. The partitions will provide different areas for scene changes. The unit has been designed to be disassembled and stored for future use.
