Tri Star students, from the St. Marys Dennings Building, work diligently every year raising money to purchase and donate thousands of canned goods to the Agape Ministries food pantry. The annual drive is a source of pride for the juniors and seniors in the Biomedical/Electronics, Engineering Technology, Med Prep, Precision Machining and Welding classes. This year approximately 127 students were able to purchase 5,866 non-perishable food items. The senior Welding class raised enough money to purchase the most canned goods at 979, with the senior Biomedical/Electronics students adding 954 items to the donation. Janet Nelson, Med Prep Instructor, added that she has kept track since 2006 and Tri Star Dennings Building students have donated a grand total of 41,808 items. Students who participate in the food drive say they feel gratified being able to help those in need and support the Agape Food Pantry in St. Marys.
