Biomedical and Electronics Technology
CONSTRUCTION: You can’t get any better experience in the construction industry than actually building a house from the foundation up. As juniors, students work to develop the basic skills needed in a variety of construction areas such as rough framing, safety, building codes, carpentry, roofing, electricity, house wiring, interior finishing, techniques of home design, plumbing and heating and siding. Seniors will put those skills to practice as they build a single-family home over the course of the school year.The reward for all the hard work is the satisfaction of seeing the home sold at auction.This is a great class for anyone, male or female, that plans a future in a construction related career.
BUSINESS MANAGEMENT : The number one, most popular, college major is business, according to USA Today and the Princeton Review. Find out if it is the right career path for you.Tri Star’s Business Management Program includes marketing, business English and math, communications, accounting, finance, office management entrepreneurship and more.Students work to develop the essential skills needed for employment in this field such as leadership, planning, interpersonal communications, organization, resource management and policymaking/implementation. Students can use the class as a stepping stone to college by earning free college credit toward a business degree at Rhodes State College, The University of Northwestern Ohio or Wright State University-Lake Campus.
BIOMEDICAL AND ELECTRONICS TECHNOLOGY: If solving technical problems related to electronics devices or, building your own computers or, learning to program a robot to do a task, sounds interesting to you, the place to be is the biomedical and electronics class.The program will be changing its name to make it easy to identify what is being taught in the class:robotics, electronics and computer technologies, so you might also hear it referred to as REC Tech.Whatever name it goes by, students learn the skills that are needed to work in the electronics/electrical career fields. Students who take the class gain advantage by testing for ISCET certification plus they can also articulate free college credit at Rhodes State College or Wright State University-Lake Campus.
GRAPHIC COMMUNICATIONS: Graphics encompasses a broad variety of techniques and technologies in printing, publishing, packaging, finishing and digital media found in today’s technology driven industry.Students can develop both the technical and creative abilities needed to become a successful professional in any number of graphic design careers.They gain experience in graphic design and layout, prepress operations, printing and digital output, finishing and binding and so much more.
INTERACTIVE MEDIA: The Interactive Media program is designed to help students explore their interest in computers and design.Students learn to produce a variety of multimedia presentations through the use of sound, videos, graphics and animation.They study these software packages: Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Flash, Adobe Premiere, Adobe Dreamweaver, HTML5, Maya and they get an introduction to computer programming.If students complete both years of the program they could earn college credit at Rhodes State College, the University of Northwestern Ohio or Wright State University-Lake Campus.
