Engineering Technology/CAD may be taken as a junior or as a senior. Student work in this one year program will consist of manual sketching, problem solving, and drawing on the CAD system. Each student will be assigned their own CAD station (no sharing). Demonstrations will be given using an LCD projector.

Students will develop skills in:

  • Basic Drawing Design - theory of shape, description, dimensional and working draw ings, sections, and pattern development
  • Intermediate Drawings - auxiliary views, pictorial drawings, and functional drafting including fasteners and machine parts, detail and assembly drawings
  • •Advanced Drawing - 3-D shapes and assemblies, using “Inventor”, generate working drawings from solids
  • Architectural Drafting - basic residential drafting of floor plan elevations, foundation, site and 3-D views using Softplan CAD Program

Students receive hands-on experience with the following equipment in the CAD program:

  • Thirteen AutoCAD systems using AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor in the Windows XP environment and Softplan stations. (A software subscription allows the CAD class to use all the latest version software.)
  • Plotters (3) A-D size (8 1/2” x 11” x 2’ x 3’)
