AG. Mechanics, a two-year program, trains students to troubleshoot agricultural equipment as well as introducing them to the business end of the servicing industry. Students receive forklift training/certification and also work on Commercial Drivers License (CDL), and can take the written test. Students also compete against other schools in FFA competitions for prizes and scholarships. Skill areas covered include:
• Tool shop fundamentals • Welding
• Machinery assembly • Engine repair
• Hydraulics and electricity • Troubleshooting
• Parts inventory control • Fabricating
• Equipment service updates
• Employability and entrepreneurship
Students receive hands-on experience using gas and diesel engines on large agricultural and industrial equipment, hydraulic test equipment and trainer, air conditioning trainer/splitting stands, sand blaster/paint equipment, electrical test equipment, valve grinding, welding and cutting equipment. Seniors may participate in early placement the last nine weeks of the school year if they qualify. |
