RECOMMENDATIONS:
A background in industrial technology, especially the metals area, is very helpful.

CAREER OPPORTUNITIES:
Manufacturing Technician, Lathe Operator, Programmer, CAD Operator/Programmer, CNC Operator/Programmer, Engineering Technician. Additional education/training maybe required for more advanced positions in this career field

 

Machine Trades (Manufacturing Engineering), a two- year program, provides training in the operation of modern metal working machine tools such as lathes, mills, drills, and grinders, including computer controlled and programmable equipment.

Students will develop skills in the following areas
• Interpretation of blueprints
• Safety
• Cutting speeds and feeds
• Use of cutting torch
• Wire welding
• Time management
• Heat treat process of steel
• Tramming mills
• Indicating with stem and dial indicators
• Boring
• Single point threading outside and inside
• Milling, drilling, jig, and fixture work

Students will have the opportunity to utilize the following equipment in the Machine Trades program.
• Lathes
• Milling machines
• CAD systems
• Surface grinders
• CNC milling machines
• Drill press
• Digital measuring instruments
• Horizontal and vertical band saws

Qualifying seniors may participate in early placement the last nine weeks of the school year.
