Tri Star presented two local businesses – Lefeld Welding and Nidec Minster Corporation – with an outstanding business partner award at its annual banquet.Both businesses have made considerable contributions to Tri Star and its students.An engraved glass star was presented to each business as a small token of the appreciation for all they have done.Welding teacher, Todd Smith nominated Lefeld Welding and president, Gary Lefeld accepted the award.Smith provided several reasons for recognizing them, stating that “they generally help in any way they can.”He also explained that they have served on the welding advisory committee, provided safety presentations to welding students, pick up and deliver steel, and hire Tri Star welding students.
Nidec Minster Corporation was nominated by Tri Star Director Tim Buschur.In recognizing Nidec, Buschur stated that for almost 20 years the Nidec Minster Corporation has supported Tri Star by hiring Tri Star students, served on the precision machining program advisory committee, provided input for future programing needs, and continued to promote the need for career-technical education in west central Ohio. The company was also able to secure a $250,000 donation from JobsOhio for Tri Star.The donation was used to purchase more than a dozen new pieces of equipment for the Precision Machining program in the fall of 2014, allowing Tri Star students to work with the latest technology.Ben Brigham, Talent Development Manager and Brian Styer, Employee Relations Manager accepted the award.
