In a surprise ceremony, Rob Menker, Tri Star’s Precision Machining instructor, was presented with the Ohio Strong Award, Friday, January 29th. Tony Burkley, an Ohio House Representative (District 82), school officials, students, teachers and family were gathered to watch as Menker received the award from Jared Borg, a representative from Ohio Treasurer Josh Mandel’s office. Representative Burkley also presented a commendation from the Ohio House congratulating Menker on receiving the Ohio Strong Award.
Ohio Treasurer Josh Mandel created the Ohio Strong Award with the purpose of raising awareness and encouraging people to pursue careers in manufacturing and the skilled trades. The award recognizes the accomplishments of both men and women who have worked and excelled in the career field.
Menker was nominated for the award by Tri Star’s assistant director, Brian Stetler, who sited Menker’s many years of work as a machinist as well as his 16 years of teaching Tri Star’s Precision Machining class, among his accomplishments.
