Tri Star/Coldwater’s FFA recently hosted the District 5 Agriculltural Power Diagnostic Career Development Event (CDE) at Coldwater High School. The contest challenges teams of two students to locate, identify and repair two malfunctions on agricultural or industrial power equipment at each of five stations. Teams have 20 minutes at each station and are scored on proper diagnostic procedures, safety practices, and the use of tools and equipment.
This year twenty high schools competed including: Anna, Eaton, Fairlawn (Sidney), Ft. Recovery, Franklin Monroe, Greenville, Jackson Center, Miami East, Miami Valley (Dayton), Minster, Mississinawa Valley, National Trail, New Bremen, Preble Shawnee, St. Henry, St. Marys, Tri-Village, Tri Star Career Compact, Twin Valley South, Upper Valley Career Center (Piqua), and Versailles.
Upper Valley Career Center won the competition with Versailles coming in second place. The top two teams will move on to the state contest which will be held at the University of Northwestern Ohio in Lima on March 4, 2016.
