Congratulations Senior Med Prep Students!
Monday evening, April 3rd, Junior Med Prep SkillsUSA President Rebecca Lemkuhl welcomed parents and guests to the Med Prep Pinning Ceremony at the Dennings Vocational Building in St. Marys. Fifteen Med Prep seniors received their caduceus pin and career passport at Tri Star Career Compact’s annual ceremony. This is the 22nd year that junior Med Prep students have held the ceremony to recognize graduating seniors for their hard work and dedication to the Med Prep program over the last two years.
The caduceus pin, a well-recognized medical symbol of two serpents entwined around a staff surmounted with wings, was presented to each senior by Med Prep Instructor Brenda Speck. The seniors will wear their caduceus pin while they participate in several weeks of health related occupations observations.
Tim Buschur, Tri Star’s Director, presented each graduate with a career passport. The passport is a portfolio which contains documentation of a student’s educational, community and work experience, including a certification of the medical skills the students have mastered in the Med Prep program.
The evening concluded with a candle lighting ceremony, recitation of the Health Occupations Pledge by students and closing thoughts from Mrs. Speck. Parents and guests were treated to refreshments at the conclusion of the evening.
