Welding students from the St. Marys Dennings Building finished the school year with a welding project that benefited a disabled veteran and his family: a new playset. Work on the project began at the Dennings Building where students designed and welded the playset together under the direction of their instructor, Todd Smith. They then delivered and set it up at the veteran’s home in Coldwater. Smith stated that he involves his welding students in community service projects as a way to teach them the importance of helping others as well as helping them gain valuable welding experience. Smith said that he would like to do more such projects for veterans in the future.
