Joseph Wenning, a 2017 graduate of Tri Star’s Engineering Technology program, was presented with a $1000 Darrell Parks Scholarship at the Ohio Association of Career and Technical Education (ACTE) Connections to Education Conference Awards Cermony on July 24th. Wenning and Kaysee Truman (from Delaware Area Career Center) were the only two chosen from among 200 entries. Wenning read his winning scholarship essay to more than 800 ACTE conference attendees at the awards ceremony. Darrell Parks presented the two with their scholarship and they are pictured at right (l to r: Truman, Parks and Wenning).
Wenning is from Coldwater and was extremely involved in Tri Star activities while he attended the program serving as the Engineering class president. He is a 4-H member and volunteers with Big Brothers Big Sisters. He was a member of the National Honor Society, band, and FCCLA. Joseph plans to attend the University of Toledo where he will major in mechanical engineering. He is the son of Nate and Karen Wenning.
