The Ohio Association of Career Technical Educators (ACTE) recently held its annual Connections to Education Conference in late July. Tri Star Career Compact was well represented at the event.
At the opening session, 2018 Med Prep graduate, Emily Forsthoefel, received the Darrell Parks Scholarship. Darrell Parks, a strong supporter of career technical education, awards two $1000 scholarships annually to career technical students from across the state of Ohio. Emily was selected from among 200+ applicants.
Jared Ebbing, Mercer County Community and Economic Development Director was awarded the Ohio ATCE’s Image Award at the opening session as well. The Image Award recognizes individuals who have brought positive attention to the career-technical and adult education fields, thereby enhancing the image of career-technical and adult education and career and technical educators. The Image Award is the only non-educator award given by the Ohio ACTE.
Jerry Kohnen, Tri Star’s REC Tech (Robotic, Electronic, and Computer Technologies) Instructor, was a presenter at the conference. Kohnen’s presentation was entitled “A Blueprint for Reviving a Dwindling CTE Program”.
Tri Star Administrators Tim Buschur (Director), Brian Stetler (Assistant Director), Julie Schosker (Recruitment/Placement Coordinator), and Marcia Helentjaris (Marketing) also attended the conference.
