Ben Wenning, a 2019 Coldwater graduate and Tri Star Precision Machining student, participated in the CNC milling competition during the National SkillsUSA Championships in Louisville, Kentucky June 24th – 28th.
Often referred to as the ‘Olympics of trade’, more than 6,000 students compete at the national showcase. Most students who participate at the national championships have won at the state-level competition, including Wenning who took first at the Ohio SkillsUSA Championships. There are 110 different trade and technical skill contests, including machining, automotive technology, criminal justice, cosmetology, construction and more, at the week-long event. SkillsUSA is a career and technical student organization aimed at connecting career technical students to business and industry leaders and promoting the skilled trades occupations.
Wenning was accompanied to the competition by his precision machining instructor, Rob Menker. His parents are Karen and Nate Wenning also attended the competition. We are proud of the great job Ben has done all year!
