18,160 … the number of food items that junior and senior Tri Star students donated to local food pantries this year. Students who attend Tri Star come from Mercer and Auglaize County schools, so they chose to divide the donation between two food pantries in both counties: Agape Food Pantry in St. Marys and CALL Ministries in Celina. The food drive, an annual tradition, serves as a community service project for several student organizations within Tri Star. It's also a way for the students to learn about giving back to their community.
Construction, Automotive, Engineering Technology, Early Childhood, Interactive Media, Med Prep, Precision Machining, REC Tech and Welding students stepped up to the challenge to be the class that "brings in or purchases the most items for donating". In the junior class, the Med Prep students brought in the most items per student, donating 116.67 canned goods per student. In the senior class, the REC Tech students were the winners donating 158 items per student.
Thank you Tri Star students who participated in this wonderful event. We are grateful for your hard work and generosity. Thank you to all the Tri Star Instructors who helped in the generous food drive.
