Tri Star SkillsUSA chapters are challenging all Tri Star classes to donate and break the record!
Every year for the past 20+ years, as the holidays approach, Tri Star's SkillsUSA chapters (who used to be at the Dennings Bldg. in St. Marys), have held a "canned foods" drive. Med Prep, Engineering Technology, Welding, Precision Machining, REC Tech programs hold the food drive as a service to their community and to help those in need. The canned goods are donated to Agape Food Pantry in St. Marys and the Call Food Pantry in Celina. In 2018, these SkillsUSA chapters set an all-time record for the number of donated food items at over 20,000 (yes, that's twenty-thousand) items.
This year these five programs are now joined by the Graphics Communications SkillsUSA chapter and together they are challenging all other Tri Star classes to help make the food drive the best ever by breaking that 2018 record. To beat the record each junior and senior Tri Star program would need to donate 500 food items. The food drive only runs for two weeks from November 9th through the 20th with the canned goods being delivered to the food pantries on Nov. 20th. Any questions about the drive should be directed to Jerry Kohnen (REC Tech Instructor).
Tri Star students, won't you please help? 2020 has been an usual and challenging year but even in these difficult times we can be thankful and show our gratitude by sharing our blessings with others. Thank you!
