Jay Brown Wins Top Award in SkillsUSA Auto Service Competition
Senior automotive technology student, Jay Brown (from Fort Recovery), won first place in the SkillsUSA Southwest Regional Automotive Service Technology Competition. Brown competed February 1st at Sinclair Community College in Dayton. The competition consisted of 13 skill stations including on-vehicle, simulations, bench and component testing, and a written test. Contestants were judged on technical competency, accuracy, quality, safety and ability to follow directions. Brown received a medal and tool set for his first place finish and has qualified to compete at the Ohio State SkillsUSA competition to be held in Columbus in April. Tri Star's automotive technology program is taught by Jim Dorsten.
