Tri Star is doing it's best to help during the Coronavirus crisis.
Seven unused hospital beds that had been abondoned at the former St. Marys Dennings Building site were donated to Mercer Health. In good condition but slightly outdated, the beds were not being used at the new building and Tri Star's Welding instructor came up with idea to donate the beds for use during the COVID-19 should the need arise.
Also helping the cause were Tri Star's REC Tech teacher, Jerry Kohnen, and Engineering teacher, Keith Westrick, who have been 3D printing face shields nonstop for local healthcare workers.
The Med Prep program donated the rubber gloves that are typically used in the hands-on program to local hospitals for their needs during the crisis. And vending machine snacks that might have gone bad waiting for students to return to school have been donated to the Mercer County Sheriff's Department and local hospitals.
Tri Star is also hoping to host a blood drive soon. Stay tuned for details.
