Teachers Receive Training During Professional Development Day
Monday, October 3rd, Tri Star teachers were in class instead of their students. While students were sleeping in, teachers were at school learning what to do in case of there is an active shooter at Tri Star as part of a professional development day. Guest speaker Sam Fasone, from Threat Extinguisher, explained what the system was and how to use it and then gave teachers a chance to practice using an extinguisher. Threat extinguishers, located throughout the building, spray a tactical grade pepper spray meant to take down an intruder in a non-lethal fashion. Following the threat extinguisher presentation, Detective Carla Baucher from the Mercer County Sheriff's office talked about what to do and how police respond in an active shooter situation. Teachers will go through an active shooter drill in the near future.
