In the middle of Friday's Job Fair, Tri Star Director Tim Buschur paused the activity and took a few moments to kick-off a celebration of Tri Star's 40th anniversary. Mercer County Commissioners Jerry Laffin and Rick Muhlenkamp and Auglaize County Commissioner, Dave Bambauer, presented proclamations to Buschur to mark the occasion. The Mercer County Commissioners' proclamation can be viewed here and the Auglaize County Commissioners' here.
Tri Star began providing career technical education (back then called vocational education) to students in the fall of 1983 as required by Ohio law. Originally, only three schools, Celina, Coldwater, and St. Marys, made up what was called a compact. Six other schools - Fort Recovery, Marion Local, Minster, New Bremen, New Knoxville, and St. Henry - joined the compact in 1985. At that time, the programs/classes that were offered to students were in facilities spread over the two counties, and in three school districts. In 2019, with overwhelming support from all nine school districts, Tri Star opened the new building located at 7655 State Route 703 and brought all programs together. Today's career technical students enjoy both a beautiful building and a great hands-on education.
Tri Star would like to thank the commissioners for taking the time to recognize this milestone achievement. Happy Anniversary Tri Star!
