Drone pilots from Civil and Environmental Consultants, Inc. were at Tri Star today using their $30,000+ drone to search nearby fields for oil and gas wells hidden underground. While the company was here performing serious business for the U.S. Government, they also agreed to stay a little longer and put on a demonstration for Tri Star students. The two pilots fly a drone with a device suspended from it that looks like a skateboard, but is much like a metal detector. The drone is connected to a computer that records the data that is collected. The data is collected for the U.S. government who then comes out to the location of the wells that are found, to see that they are properly sealed off so that they are not contaminating ground water or soil. Thank you to the two pilots who took the time to demonstrate their work!
(Sorry we didn't get great pictures of this event.) Pictured below is the company's truck. Above you see the Career Pathways class returning to class and in the background the drone pilots load up their drone after the demonstration.
