LAW AND PUBLIC SAFETY
Tri Star is announcing plans to introduce this new program for the 2026-27 | 27-28 school year. The course is tentatively being offered based on whether a sufficient number of students enroll.
Law and Public Safety is designed to provide a foundation for students who have an interest in careers related to criminal justice, law/law enforcement, and public safety. A more complete course description can be found here on the Tri Star website..
There are two opportunities for students to get a feel for the program.

Interested sophomores will have the opportunity to visit the proposed program at Tri Star during Sophomore Visits week.
December 2, 2025 - St. Marys, New Bremen, and Minster

December 4 - Coldwater, Marion Local, and St. Henry
Area agencies such as the WSU-Lake Campus police academy, Coldwater Police Dept., Mercer County Sheriff's Office, as well as Darrell Miller, former Criminal Justice instructor from Four County Career Center and Vantage Career Center will be leading sophomores through hands-on skills needed in these careers.

OPEN HOUSE:
Tri Star also hosts an Open House which will be on December 8th from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tri Star representatives will be here to answer questions about the program.
Once a student has determined that they would like to enroll in the program, they will to complete the online Tri Star Application.
ENROLLMENT PROCESS:
Students who choose to enroll in Law and Public Safety will be able to select it as an option on the online enrollment application. They will also be prompted to select a second and third program choice. Should the law and public safety course not have enough enrollment to be offered, the student will be placed in their second choice as if that program was their first choice. The student will have equal opportunity for a seat in that second choice program along with all other students enrolled.
Alternately, if a student wants to enroll in only the Law and Public Safety program and no other, they may choose this option: ‘I am not interested in another program at Tri Star Career Compact’ and they will not be placed in any other program.
Students with questions should contact Paula VanTilburg or Julie Schosker at the Tri Star office at 419-586-7060
