Building a Safer Tomorrow: Potential Law and Public Safety (LPS) Program
Are you interested in understanding the foundations of the American Justice System, police work/public safety, investigation, forensics, and rehabilitation? This specialized program is your gateway to a career in law enforcement, legal studies, or public service careers.
LPS students will delve into the complexities of the legal system, criminal behavior, and the agencies that enforce the law and respond to emergency situations. The curriculum covers essential topics, including:
• American Criminal Law and the Court System
• Police Work and Public Safety
• Investigations and Forensics
• Homeland Security
You will be exposed to police, fire, EMS, and many other essential service careers in order to learn to work as one integrated team to ensure the swift and effective welfare of every citizen during various emergencies or catastrophic events.
Through engaging case studies, critical discussions, and hands-on simulated activities, you’ll see criminal justice principles applied in the real world. You will develop strong analytical, ethical, and communications skills vital for a rewarding career dedicated to ensuring public welfare and upholding the law.

This program provides a foundation for a wide variety of career opportunities in the criminal justice and law and public safety pathway.
INDUSTRY CERTIFICATIONS/CREDENTIALS: Students have the opportunity to earn:
• National Incident Management System (or NIMS) 100 (4 pts.), 200 (1 pt.), 700 (4 pts.), 800 (1 pt.)
• Association of Public Safety Communications Officials (APCO) Law Enforcement Communications
• Drone Part 107 (6 pts.)
• CPR/AED First Aid (1 pt.)
• Stop The Bleed (1 pt.)
• OSHA 10-Hour Training (1 pt.)
• Private Security Certification
TO PREPARE FOR THIS CLASS: Students should take Spanish, English and communication classes, sciences (for forensics) and math.
