Program Overview
Engineering Technology is a two-year STEM program that provides students with a comprehensive introduction to multiple engineering fields including mechanical, electrical, civil, manufacturing, and architectural. Through classroom instruction, hands-on projects, and industry engagement, students gain a deeper understanding of each discipline to help identify their area of interest.
Throughout the first year, students will have opportunities to connect with industry professionals, participate in company tours, and complete job shadowing experiences with local businesses. These experiences expose students to real-world applications of engineering and the career pathways available within the area.
In the second year, students take their learning to the next level by completing an individualized capstone project, allowing them to focus on a specific area of engineering that aligns with their career goals. In addition, students participate in a work-based learning experience, collaborating directly with engineers at local companies to further develop their technical skills and prepare for future education or careers in engineering.
Qualifying students may earn college credit by way of CTAV / CTAGs for three courses:
• Computer Integrated Manufacturing (175006)
• Digital Electronics (175007)
• Engineering Design (175001)
Students receive hands-on experience with the following equipment/software in the CAD program:
- AutoCAD
Inventor
Revit
CorelDRAW
Sparkfun with Arduino
Epilog laser engraver
3D printers
INDUSTRY CERTIFICATIONS/CREDENTIALS - Students have the opportunity to earn:
- OSHA 10-Hour General Industry- Manufacturing Certification
TO PREPARE FOR THIS CLASS: Take three math classes (one must be geometry). Classes in computer literacy and mechanical drawing will also be helpful.
