Program Overview
Graphics, a two-year STEM program, in which students develop the technical and creative skills necessary to compete in today's technology-driven and fast-paced multibillion-dollar creative and print industry. Class projects utilize real-world scenarios and provide hands-on experience with the latest Adobe products, taking design concepts all the way through to production. Students create a portfolio of their work to showcase their skills for employment or college interviews.
Students test for Adobe certifications in Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign in this program with the option of testing for other Adobe certifications should they choose to do so.
Qualifying seniors may participate in early job placement and earn college credit through articulation agreements or CTAG/CTAV
In Graphics, students work to develop these skill areas:
• Computer design and layout
• Pre press
• Pre flighting
• Computer-to-plate
• Printing
• Finishing and binding
Students will gain experience in the use of computers, offset printing press and high speed reprographic equipment. Qualifying seniors may participate in early placement the last nine weeks of the school year.
INDUSTRY CERTIFICATIONS/CREDENTIALS - Students will have to opportunity to earn:
- Adobe Certification Professional - Illustrator (4 pts.)
- Adobe Certification Professional - Photoshop (4 pts.)
- Adobe Certification Professional - InDesign CC (4 pts.)
TO PREPARE FOR THIS CLASS: Take classes in communications as well as basic computer literacy classes. Creative thinking, problem solving and communication skills are important and an interest in art or photography is helpful.
