A local civic organization recently challenged Tri Star Engineering students to design a project they are planning for their community. The project, however, has not been made public because the organization is still in the planning stages. Each engineering student was tasked with creating their own design for the project and each had to present their design to a panel of four individuals from the civic organization. With the help of their engineering instructor, Taylor Hesse, the students used the seven steps in the design process to come up with a design including what materials they would use and why. Hesse said, “This is a great opportunity for our students to be a part of a real live opportunity and learning experience that will be part of a local community for years to come.” Tri Star's Director, Tim Buschur, added, "I was impressed with the level of work Ms. Hesse and her students are putting into this project and their presentations. I'm really looking forward to the day we find out which student's design will be used and to seeing it constructed and used by an entire community."
