Monday evening, August 3rd Corey and Tasha Stoker and their son Kashdon picked up shovels to turn over the first bit of dirt at the site of their new home. Joining them at the groundbreaking ceremony were Tri Star’s construction teacher, Brett McGillvary and construction students Rachel Hoying and . The Stokers were selected by the Lots for Soldiers organization to receive a new home as a way to say thanks for Corey’s service in the military. Tri Star’s senior construction class agreed to build the home as a way to give back to the community and to fulfill their senior house project.
The groundbreaking ceremony included brief comments from Tri Star Director Tim Buschur as well as Rod and Barb Carpenter presenting a check to Lots for Soldiers which will help finance the build. St. Marys VFW Post 9289 helped make the ceremony special for all involved.
Just days after the groundbreaking ceremony, real work began on the home with the basement being excavated. The concrete for the basement will be poured soon and will be ready for the Tri Star students to begin their work shortly after school gets back in session.
Thanks to all the generous donors and to the VFW for making this a wonderful ceremony.
Congratulations to the Stokers!
